What would be the best type of wood to use for an antique style display case for baseball cards?
I'm designing a custom case and needs some ideas and suggestions to make a really premium wall mounted display case - any comments would be great

- I would suggest you use either cherry or walnut wood for the case. When finished, they both look very classic in color, they will also create a nice dark frame for the cards.
- Actually you would more than likely want to use some type of oak for your case. Oak usually keeps out all the bugs and moisture that would ruin your cards. Not to mention the smell of oak is so much more pleasant than any other wood you may be tempted to use just because of the looks. You can paint it or stain it to look just as classic or antique as you wish.
- I would avoid wood with an odor (oak) as it will permeate your cards. I like the idea of a walnut. Maybe a green felt backdrop inside. Also make sure that you get glass that will protect the cards from fading.
